My stay at The Manila Hotel was quite underwhelming, with various issues that significantly affected my experience. Although the location has historical charm, the service and room maintenance left much to be desired. The friendliness of the staff was a silver lining amidst the chaos, but it did not compensate for the overall discomfort.
Rooms
6.0
I was given a room at the far end of a long hallway, which made it quite inconvenient (especially for my mom). The beds were uncomfortable, and the air conditioning barely worked. I also encountered issues with the bathroom; the handheld shower didn't work properly, and there was no vent to alleviate the humidity. It felt poorly maintained.
Service
5.0
The staff were generally polite and accommodating, but the response time to maintenance requests was frustratingly slow. I had to follow up multiple times before someone came to address the broken shower. Though they were friendly, the overall service felt overwhelmed and lacking.
Location
6.0
The hotel is ideally located near historical sites like Intramuros and Luneta Park, which is great for exploring the area. However, the chaotic atmosphere outside was a bit overwhelming at times. It doesn't have the polished feel you might expect from a five-star hotel.
Dining
6.0
While I enjoyed breakfast at Cafe Ilang Ilang, I was disappointed by the overall food quality and selection. The offerings were often too salty, and only the bread products stood out as decent.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities felt outdated and in need of renovation. Housekeeping only changed the sheets and didn’t vacuum the room, unlike what I’ve experienced at other hotels. The overall vibe felt overly crowded and gloomy.

My stay at The Manila Hotel was mostly enjoyable, marked by a charming atmosphere and a prime location. The spacious room and tasty meals are significant highlights; however, some service issues and noise from the street detracted from the experience. Overall, it was a good stay despite a few setbacks.
Rooms
8.0
The room was generous in size and clean, with plenty of complimentary toiletries. I appreciated the chocolates delivered each evening and the fruit on arrival. However, my room faced the road, which made it quite noisy at night.
Service
7.0
While the staff were generally accommodating and helpful, I felt a bit judged in my casual attire when heading to the lobby. There were also some hiccups with the organization, especially during checkout, which left room for improvement.
Location

The hotel's location is fantastic, right opposite Rizal Park and near Intramuros. It’s perfect for anyone interested in exploring Manila's rich history, although it lacks the more polished atmosphere of places like Makati.
Dining

I enjoyed a varied breakfast buffet with generous offerings. The meals I tried were delicious and reasonably priced, but with a dining experience this good, I was surprised by some of the service delays during meal orders.
Facilities

The pool area was nice, although I didn’t use it. The gym was excellent, well-equipped, and a great place to get a workout in. I also found the spa to be inviting and clean, making my massage sessions enjoyable.

My stay at The Manila Hotel was a good experience overall. The staff were incredibly professional and attentive, making me feel welcomed. However, I noticed that some areas, especially the carpets in my room, were showing their age and could use an update. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a diverse selection, but I felt the dinner options were a bit lacking compared to what I expected. Still, I would love to return in the future.

The Tower Deluxe room was spacious and offered a clean atmosphere, but the vintage carpet was a bit worn. The bathtub was a nice touch, and the water pressure was fantastic.
Service
10.0
Service was friendly and efficient. The check-in and check-out process was the fastest I've experienced. Staff frequently checked in on my needs, which I appreciated.
Location

Located in the heart of Manila, the hotel is close to cultural sites like Intramuros, making it convenient for exploration. The views of the Bay were stunning.
Dining
8.0
The breakfast buffet was impressive, with numerous options that catered to various tastes. Unfortunately, dinner could have been better in terms of variety and flavor.
Facilities

Facilities like the swimming pool and The Champagne Room added a luxurious touch. However, I faced some challenges regarding parking and room key access.

I was really looking forward to my stay at The Manila Hotel, but overall, it didn't quite meet my expectations. The lobby had that wow factor with its historical charm, yet the room I was in felt outdated and wasn’t well-kept. The service had its ups and downs, but the buffet dining was certainly a highlight.
Rooms
6.0
The room I stayed in was dark and dreary, not at all like the photos online. The bathroom was clean, but I had inconsistent hot water during my stay. The carpet felt old and uninviting, making me hesitant to walk around barefoot.
Service
5.0
While the staff were generally pleasant, I had a few frustrating interactions. One staff member directed me to order from another outlet instead of taking my order directly. Additionally, there was an issue with my senior citizen discount at checkout that wasn't handled well.
Location
5.0
The hotel is situated in a less attractive area, and it’s not very convenient for grabbing food or shops. However, they do offer free transport to popular malls, which is helpful.
Dining
8.0
The buffet was fantastic with a huge variety of dishes, definitely one of the best meals I had during my stay. I just wish I could've enjoyed the dining options without any hassle in booking.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel has decent amenities, but I encountered some issues with service speed and cleanliness that made it less enjoyable. Overall, the facilities were satisfactory but could use improvement.

I had a lovely stay at The Manila Hotel, with its stunning heritage design and grand lobby that set a magnificent tone upon arrival. While the aesthetics were impressive and the staff were friendly, some aspects of the service fell short, particularly during peak dining hours. Overall, it was a nice experience, but there are areas for improvement.
Rooms
7.0
I enjoyed the spacious room with a beautiful view of Manila Bay and felt the Filipino touch in the decor. However, I did find the room to be in need of some refurbishment, as it felt a bit worn.
Service
6.0
The staff were generally friendly and made efforts to assist me, but I encountered some significant issues with communication and organization, particularly at check-in and during meals. It really impacted my overall experience.
Location
7.0
The hotel is situated in a lively part of the city, away from the sterile skyscrapers of Makati, which I appreciated. However, the nearby options for dining and entertainment were somewhat limited.
Dining
5.0
Dining at Café Ilang-Ilang had its highs and lows. While the breakfast buffet offered a variety of choices, the chaotic setup on Christmas morning was disappointing. It felt like the staff struggled to keep up, leading to long wait times and an overall disorganized atmosphere.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities, including the pool and the bar area, were decent, although I would have appreciated more efficient service, especially at the pool bar where my credit card was taken without proper communication.
